There’s a wonderful old song in our hymnals that begins with the following words: “There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole; there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul.” It’s based on a verse from the Bible, found in Jeremiah 8, verse 22, which is as relevant to us today as it was when it was written.
