There are many sermons in the Bible, and most, if not all of them, are easy to understand. But the simplest one was one told by someone who wasn’t even a preacher...and it’s found in Second Kings 5:13. How does it apply to us today? What does the Bible say?

One day, everything on earth will come to an end...including our lives. I'm sure we've all wondered about when we'll die. We don't know when it will happen, but we do know that we eventually will (unless Jesus comes before we do). But the fact that we all will, at some point in time, cease to exist, is not the most important thing for us to think about. We should all consider this -- when it does happen, "What shall the end be?" What does the Bible say?

The dictionary defines “idol” as an image worshipped by man...something he has more reverence for than the word of God. Back in Old Testament times, people often worshipped idols, and because they turned their back on God, He let them have their way, and then punished them for it. Well, the same thing can happen today, if we’re not careful. What does the Bible say?

Many people will pray for things they can’t possibly obtain, things they don’t expect to get, and some things that God simply refuses to bestow...one of which is salvation without doing what He says. Can a sinner...that is, one who is not a Christian...pray for redemption and be saved? Does God answer the sinner’s prayer? In some cases, the answer may be “yes." What does the Bible say?

If I were to tell you that 400 people were saved outside the ark, what would you say? That idea is the basis of one of the most popular beliefs in a lot of churches today. If 400 people could have been saved outside the ark, then there was more than one way to be saved when the flood came. And if that’s true, then there’s more than one way to be saved today. That’s what most churches teach...but what does the Bible say?

The Bible contains a long list of sad situations. We might think about Job’s lament before God in Job 1:20-21...maybe David’s sadness when he learned of the death of his son Absalom. Or in the New Testament, where Peter cried when he realized that he had denied the Lord, or Jesus’ sadness over the consequences of sin in the death of Lazarus. But I think David may have uttered the six saddest words in the Bible, over in Psalm 142. We’ll learn about those in today’s study, and discuss why we should never let them apply to us.     According to II Peter 3:10, the earth will one day come to a surprising and sudden end. It says, “The day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” The frightening thing, however, is not the way the earth is going to end, but what’s going to happen after it does.  Everyone one of us will be sent to one of two places -- heaven or hell. I want to go to heaven...I surely don’t want to go to hell. And I’ll explain why in today’s episode. Host:  Alan Caudle

We all want to go to heaven, and no one wants to end up in hell. But a lot of people seem to be unwilling to do the things God has told them to do in order to be saved and they will will end up missing Heaven. Why is that? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

What comes to mind when you think of the word, “gospel?” I wonder how many people really understand what it means...because, even if they say they’ve obeyed the gospel, it may not be the “gospel” as it’s presented in the Bible. They may be following an “unwritten gospel” -- one that’s not taught in the scriptures. Everyone needs to know what the gospel is and what it is not before they can be saved. Host:  Alan Caudle

Have you ever prayed to God and felt He didn’t answer your prayer? I’ve always heard it said that God does answer prayers, but He does so by saying, “Yes,” “No,” or “Wait awhile.” That may be true, but the fact remains that some prayers are simply not granted. Why is that? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

Many years ago, some people said, “Ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine.”Those were the words of the enemies of the church, addressed to the apostles, who were fulfilling the greatest needof the church -- telling others about Christ and His gospel. That’s what the Lord emphasized back then, and what He still emphasizes today...a passion for souls. And that’s the topic of today’s episode. Host:  Alan Caudle

On the island of Sicily, there is a group of men who gather water-soaked driftwood found floating in the Mediterranean, and then work and transform it into some of the finest and most expensive veneers and furniture in the world. Well, in a way, the Lord does same thing with people. Life is a sea, filled with human driftwood, which the Lord is able to transform into the finest and most beautiful things in the world -- Christian lives. He’s done it in the past...and He continues to do it today. Host:  Alan Caudle

One of the most popular ideas heard among those who claim to be Christians goes something like this: “The church doesn’t save you. A person can live just as good a Christian life outside the church as he can inside.” Most people who believe this are outside the Lord’s church...but now, we’re beginning to hear it from some who claim to be members. What do you say to this? How do you answer someone who believes that? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

The apostle Paul said, “In this life we groan, being burdened.” How true that is. And even though many burdens are seen, the ones that are deepest are the burdens that are unseen. We should pay attention to the Bible as to how we are to handle those. Plus, if we only knew the burdens some are bravely carrying, it would teach us some important lessons of love and restraint. What does the Bible say about, "the Burdens of Life?" Host:  Alan Caudle

Discovering the unknown, pioneering a new field, blazing a new trail...these are the urges that have caused men to move themselves forward and accomplish great things in this world. We can be thankful today for every constructive discovery they’ve ever made. But human eyes and hands have their limitations and they come to a place where, by themselves, they cannot go. There is a vast undiscovered land out there which can only be seen in the light of the Bible. Let's exploring! Host:  Alan Caudle

God wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23 teaches that “true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.”The denominational world has decided to ignore that command and substitute things that are NOT in spirit and in truth. And that is so sad...but even sadder is the fact that many congregations of the Lord’s church have drifted into the same mindset. We need to restore worship as God would have it. Host:  Alan Caudle

The Lord’s church needs soul winners. They’re needed in the pulpit, in the home, in the office, the store, the shop, and the school room. The church that loves the most and does the greatest amount of good is the soul saving church. The church with the best prospect for future usefulness is the soul saving church. Hundreds of churches have been blotted out of existence for failing in this God-given mission. This is why soul winning is the #1 need of the church today. Host:  Alan Caudle

What is the chief danger to all members of the church? The divine answer is found in the word, “drift.” The danger in drifting away from the pathway of duty and safety should be our chief concern, since few people break away from God and the church on purpose. They drift away. How can you know you are drifting? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

The apostle Paul’s experience in Athens is so much like our experience in the 21st century. The Athenians not only had no idea who God was...but according to Acts 17:22-23, they had even built an altar “to the unknown God,” and worshipped it. People haven’t changed much since then, have they? Those who say they honor the God of the Bible but claim that He puts a depraved soul in a little child certainly don’t know him. The same goes for the millions who deviate from His Word. They just don’t seem to realize the necessity of really knowing God. What IS God like? What does the Bible say. Host:  Alan Caudle

It seems that more and more people are attending less and less, when it comes to the services of the Lord’s church. Some claim that the only time God requires them to attend is for Sunday morning worship. Others might come for worship services on Sunday morning and Sunday evening, but skip Sunday morning Bible study and Wednesday night services. In fact, some give the excuse that God doesn’t expect them to attend on Wednesday nights because it’s not mentioned in the Bible...and, not only that, any service scheduled at times other than Sunday morning worship is actually unscriptural! What about this? Is it necessary to attend all services of the church? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

The Bible gives us many lessons on the importance of trusting Jesus and following His commands, but there’s one in John 21 that’s especially meaningful as to our personal responsibility in obeying the Lord and obtaining and keeping our salvation. In the passage, Jesus is talking to Peter and teaching him about the importance of following Him, when Peter sees John and asks the Lord, “What shall this man do?” In other words, “What About John?” Why was the Lord’s answer to Peter so important for us today?   The conduct of the wise men, in the story of the birth of Jesus, contains some very important lessons for us today. And I nearly said, “the three wise men,” since the popular idea is that there were only three of them that came to Bethlehem. The fact is, we don’t know how many there were -- it may have been three, or there could have been three hundred! But regardless of how many wise men visited Jesus after He was born, their story can teach us some wonderful lessons. Host:  Alan Caudle

A long time ago, shortly after the beginning of time, God made Adam and Eve. They were our first parents and why we’re here today. We can learn many lessons from the first man and woman, but for now, I want us to deal with only a small part of their story. After they had sinned, God asked them several questions, which apply as much to us today as they did back then. What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

One of the on-going discussions between members of the Lord’s church and the denominational world is the use of instrumental music during our worship to God. Was it practiced during Old Testament times? Yes indeed. The Bible tells us that David used it. But was it actually commanded or endorsed by God? If it was, then why do the churches of Christ not use it today? If it wasn’t, then why was it used at all? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle

Prayer is a very important part in the life of a Christian...but some people misunderstand it. What is prayer? What is it NOT? And why should we believe in it? What does the Bible say? Host:  Alan Caudle
