Most people who claim to follow the Christian religion are familiar with the word, “gospel”. It’s referred to many times within the pages of the New Testament...but some people follow what we might call an “Unwritten Gospel.” What does that mean? What does the Bible say?

I’m sure all of us have, at one time or another, wondered how long we have on this earth...and when our lives will be over. But there’s a much more important question than that. What will be the conclusion of each one of us AFTER we die and pass from this life? That question is posed in First Peter 4, verse 17, when the apostle Peter asked, “What shall the end be?” What does the Bible say?

Many people say they want nothing but "old-time religion." And since so much is said about it (and there’s even a song sung about it), maybe we need to go back and examine the religion of men at different times and under different environments, and see if people of today really want it. What IS "old time religion?" What does the Bible say?

Most people have a genuine sympathy and concern over someone who is blind. In addition to not being able to see the many beautiful things bestowed upon us in this life by God, the person who is physically blind often finds it difficult to deal with everyday challenges because of his or her handicap. But the blindness under discussion in today’s lesson is far more detrimental than that which pertains to the body. You might call it spiritual myopia. What is that and why is it a problem? What does the Bible say?

How many times have you heard a preacher referred to as, "Reverend"? You know, someone will introduce their preacher as, "Reverend so-and-so." Or, a preacher will refer to himself as "Reverend," or in a lot of cases, "Pastor." Is there anything wrong with this...and, if it is, why is it wrong? What does the Bible say?

Usually, the last words a person says are considered important…and if they come from someone we love, very dear. In the Bible, we have the last words of Joshua, in Joshua 24:15…the last words of David are found in First Kings 2:1-3…we can also read the last words of the apostle Paul, over in Second Timothy 4:6-8. But what were the last words ever spoken by Jesus Christ, and what do they mean for us today? What does the Bible say?

When it comes to asking God for anything, we may have, at times, paused and asked ourselves what we should actually pray for. Are there certain things we should always ask of God? And how are we supposed to pray? We may feel like the Lord’s disciples felt, as recorded in the 11th chapter of Luke, verse 1, when they said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” So, for what should we pay and how should we do it? What does the Bible say?

There is no doubt that the topic of homosexuality is at the forefront of both the political world and the religious world. It’s all over the place in our society today and there’s much discussion about how people are supposed to deal with it. But, as Christians, we’re only concerned with what God thinks about it.

The Lord’s church has dealt with problems on the local level for many, many years...and a lot of those same problems still exist today. But if we were to give a diagnosis of the main illness effecting the Lord’s body in the 21stcentury, including a growing number of churches and their members, I would say, “anemia”...or more accurately, “spiritual anemia.” So, when it comes to spiritual anemia, what are some of the symptoms and how do we deal with it? What does the Bible say?

Many people obey the gospel…but, just like the children of Israel, fewer remain faithful, even in light of such passages as Matthew 10:22, which says, "he that endureth to the end shall be saved." Or Revelation 2, verse 10, which has Jesus saying, "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." And when we see the dangers of unfaithfulness, I think all of us might need to ask ourselves, "Can the Lord call me faithful?"... and to realize the need to understand the topic of today’s episode.

The Christian religion is the religion of hope. And we find references to this hope throughout the New Testament. For example, in Ephesians 4:4, we're told, "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling." Here's another one, found in Titus 2:11-13: "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ." How wonderful is the hope? What does the Bible say?

The fact that God is who He is makes it impossible for Him to do some things. God cannot sin...He cannot lie...He cannot change...He cannot save people against their will...and...God cannot answer the question asked in Hebrews 2:1-3.

Is salvation by faith alone, or does it include works, along with our faith? There's been much discussion about this for many years throughout the religious world. Which is it? Are we saved by faith, or works, or both? What does the Bible say?

We hear the word “Christian” used a lot when it comes to religion. Many people claim to be Christians, even though they may hardly attend worship services. Regardless of what they believe or how they act...they still classify themselves as “Christians.” In fact, there’s lot of confusion in today’s world as to what the term actually means. But there shouldn’t be, because the Bible makes it easy to answer the question, “Who is a Christian?”

Religious error is a problem. Satan is responsible for it and God is not pleased with it. And since the Bible warns us about it, we’re going to spend some time in today’s episode with a study of some of the causes of religious error.

I think most people who believe the Bible will say that the Holy Spirit coverts a person from an unsaved condition to a saved condition. The question is: how does He do it? The Word of God, in no uncertain terms, teaches that there is no conversion without it having been begun, continued, and completed by the Holy Spirit. But, again, how does He do that? Does He do it by directly acting upon the heart of a person, causing him to be saved? Or is it by some other method? What does the Bible say?

When a person’s sins are remitted by God, that person is treated as if those sins had never been committed. In fact, God says He forgets them, as if they had never existed. Isn’t that wonderful...to know that there is a way that we can receive remission of our sins, as if God simply erases them off a list of things that we have done wrong and never remembers them?  But how does that happen? How DO we have our sins remitted and when does it happen? What does the Bible say?

How many times have you heard the expression, “heartfelt religion?” People may say, “I know I’m saved...I just feel it in my heart.” There’s probably been more talk about heartfelt religion over the years, and less understood about the religion of Jesus Christ, than any other subject among those who claim to be Christians. But so far as the expression, “heartfelt religion” goes, it’s not found anywhere in the Scriptures. And that’s a problem...for a lot of people. What does the Bible say?

The Scriptures tell us that we have been bought and paid for...but some people have never gone through the checkout line. Knowing that we've been bought, what should be our response? What does the Bible say?

Singing is part of the Christian religion. Colossians 3:16 says we should sing with grace in our hearts to the Lord. Ephesians 5:19 calls it, “making melody in our hearts.” And yet, we have a lot of people (including some preachers) who won’t sing during worship. Others may sing, but not acceptably. We need to develop our appreciation of singing and an understanding of why God expects us to do it. What does the Bible say?

In Nehemiah 8:10, Ezra told the people, "For the joy of the Lord is your strength." Why did he say that and why should we believe it today? What does the Bible say?

In the Old Testament book of Jeremiah, we find the Jews departing so far from God and following their own ways, that Jeremiah called upon them to, “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, “We will not walk therein.” People haven’t changed much since then, have they? They simply refuse to do what God tells them to do. I don’t believe there has ever been a greater need for us to seek the old paths and walk in the way marked out by the Lord than today. Who is that? What does the Bible say?

In the Bible, a man asked, "What doth hinder me to be baptized?" In other words, "What's stopping me?" This man wanted to be baptized. But a lot of people today will ask, "Why should I?" What stopping them? This lesson is intended not only for those who are not Christians...but also for those who are trying to teach others what they need to do to be saved. What does the Bible say?
