The Bible contains a long list of sad situations. We might think about Job’s lament before God in Job 1:20-21...maybe David’s sadness when he learned of the death of his son Absalom. Or in the New Testament, where Peter cried when he realized that he had denied the Lord, or Jesus’ sadness over the consequences of sin in the death of Lazarus. But I think David may have uttered the six saddest words in the Bible, over in Psalm 142. We’ll learn about those in today’s study, and discuss why we should never let them apply to us.
